AI Policy
Last updated: May 2026
We built The Messaging Lab on the belief that how you treat people matters... including how transparent you are about the tools you use. This policy tells you exactly what's happening when you use the CONNECT AI.
Overview
The Messaging Lab is an AI-powered copywriting platform. Transparency about how our AI works... and how your data is handled within it... is not a legal box we're checking. It's a reflection of the principle that runs through everything we build: how you treat people matters. This policy tells you exactly what's happening when you use the CONNECT AI.
The AI Behind The Messaging Lab
The methodology is ours
The CONNECT AI is built on the CONNECT Method, Connect-First Copywriting framework, and 14+ years of Racheal Blackmore's client work. Every prompt is engineered to produce copy that opens with the reader's experience, builds with brand story, and closes with proof... in sequence. The methodology is built into the architecture of every output, not added as a style instruction.
The underlying model
The CONNECT AI runs on large language model technology provided by Anthropic, the company behind Claude. Anthropic processes your prompts under their commercial terms of service, which prohibit training on customer content. The methodology that shapes every output is proprietary to The Messaging Lab.
What makes it different
The CONNECT AI is not a generic AI writing tool with a different interface. The framework that drives every output... recognition first, belonging second, proof third... is built directly into the prompt architecture. The model is the engine. The methodology is the steering.
How Your Data Is Processed
What is sent to the AI
When you generate copy, your prompt... along with the relevant sections of your Messaging Voice & Tone Guide and Brand Guide... is sent to Anthropic's infrastructure to generate your output. This processing happens in real time.
What is not sent
Your billing information, account credentials, and data from other users are never sent to the AI. Each prompt is processed independently. The AI does not have access to your complete account history unless you explicitly include it.
Your guides
Your Messaging Voice & Tone Guide and Brand Guide are stored on our secure servers. Relevant sections are included in your prompt context so the AI can produce output in your voice. They are never shared with other users.
Training Data — What We Commit To
We do not train on your content
Your prompts, your Messaging Guide, your Brand Guide, and the copy generated on your behalf are not used to train our AI models or any third-party AI models. Your content is processed to produce your output. That is the only use.
Our AI provider has the same commitment
Anthropic's commercial terms explicitly prohibit training models on customer content from their API services. We pass that protection through to you.
What the CONNECT AI is trained on
The CONNECT AI's methodology is built from 14+ years of Racheal Blackmore's copywriting work... the frameworks, the client results, the Connect-First principles... not from user data on the platform.
Output Ownership
Your copy is yours
Copy generated by the CONNECT AI based on your inputs belongs to you. You may use it for any commercial purpose... publish it, sell products with it, include it in client deliverables... without restriction or attribution to The Messaging Lab.
No claim by The Messaging Lab
We do not claim ownership of the copy generated for you. We do not retain rights in your output beyond what is necessary to deliver the service.
Accuracy and Your Responsibility to Review
Review before publishing
AI-generated copy may occasionally contain inaccuracies, outdated information, or output that does not fully reflect your intent. The methodology is built in to minimize this... but you are responsible for reviewing all output before publishing or distributing it. Particular care should be taken with factual claims, statistics, testimonials, and any regulated-industry content.
No guaranteed results
The results described on our website... including email open rates, revenue figures, and client outcomes... reflect real results from clients using Connect-First Copywriting. They are not guarantees of your results. Copy performance depends on your offer, your audience, your delivery, and market conditions.
Bias and Limitations
Large language models reflect patterns in the data they were trained on. They can produce outputs that contain bias, stereotypes, or assumptions that do not match the reality of your audience. We do not believe AI can replace the judgment of someone who knows their audience.
Cultural and contextual nuance
The CONNECT AI is most accurate when your Messaging Guide is specific and reflects the actual language of your audience. Generic guides produce generic output. We strongly encourage you to write your guide in your own voice and to review output for cultural and contextual fit before publishing.
When to step away from the AI
For content involving regulated industries (medical, legal, financial), sensitive topics (mental health, trauma, identity), or high-stakes communications (crisis response, public statements), AI-assisted output should always be reviewed by a qualified human... and in many cases, written entirely by one.
Prohibited Uses
You may not use the CONNECT AI to generate content for any of the following purposes:
Tailored advice without professional review
Providing tailored legal, medical, or financial advice without review by a qualified professional and disclosure of the use of AI assistance.
High-stakes automated decisions
Making automated decisions in domains that affect a person's safety, rights, or well-being. This includes law enforcement, migration, management of critical infrastructure, credit, employment, housing, education, social scoring, and insurance.
Political campaigning and election interference
Generating campaign materials targeted to specific demographics, disinformation about voting processes, or content designed to discourage democratic participation.
Deception and fabrication
Generating fabricated testimonials, fake endorsements, disinformation, false claims about products or services, or content designed to deceive consumers or readers.
Harmful content
Generating content that sexualizes or targets minors, promotes violence or self-harm, harasses individuals or groups, infringes intellectual property, or violates applicable law.
Competing AI development
Using outputs to train a competing AI model or building a competing AI copywriting product based on our service.
Real-money gambling and predatory finance
Facilitating real-money gambling, payday lending, or other predatory financial products.
Enforcement
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section, with or without notice. Severe violations may be reported to applicable authorities.
Disclosure When You Publish
In the United States, the Federal Trade Commission and other regulatory bodies require disclosure of material connections, sponsored content, and... in many cases... the use of AI in content that could mislead consumers. Other jurisdictions have similar or stricter requirements.
Your responsibility
Compliance with disclosure requirements is your responsibility. You should never represent AI-generated content as written entirely by a human when that representation would mislead the reader. When in doubt, disclose. The use of AI in your process does not undermine your authority... pretending you didn't use it does.
Model Updates and Versioning
The underlying AI model that powers the CONNECT AI is updated periodically by our AI provider. We may also update the CONNECT methodology and prompt architecture over time. Output quality and behavior may change with these updates.
Material changes
Material changes to the AI behavior or methodology that affect how the platform produces copy will be communicated to active subscribers.
Data Security
Your data is stored on secure, encrypted infrastructure. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your account information, your content, and your generated copy. Access to your data is restricted to personnel who need it to provide the service.
Reporting security issues
If you discover a security vulnerability in The Messaging Lab, please report it to hello@messaginglab.ai. We will respond within 24 hours.
Our Transparency Commitments
We commit to being honest about what the AI can and cannot do. We will not claim AI-generated copy is human-written. We will not use your data in ways not described in this policy. We will name the underlying AI provider rather than obscure it. We will notify you of material changes to how we handle your data or how the AI operates. If we cannot deliver on a commitment in this policy, we will tell you.
Questions About This Policy
